City-wide Fire Drill October 12

Wednesday, October 12, 2016 - 9:45am

As part of Fire Prevention Week, the MFD is encouraging everyone within the City of Monroe to participate in the City Wide Fire Drill to be held at 11:30 am Wednesday, October 12, 2016.

Mayor Jamie Mayo adds, "This is an excellent opportunity to test your company, school or home evacuation plan in the event of a fire.  We are encouraging large and small businesses, schools, hospitals, daycare facilities, government offices, hotels and private residents to participate."

WHAT'S YOUR PLAN IN THE EVENT OF A FIRE?

Every building in the city should also have an action plan in the event of a fire.  This plan should address two basic goals: 1) Evacuating the building in a quick and safe manner; and, 2) Being able to account for the safe evacuation of everyone within the building.

Participating in the City Wide Fire Drill will only help in preparing everyone to respond properly during a real emergency.  If you don't currently have a plan for your home or business, the Monroe Fire Department has hand-outs to help you create a plan.  For additional information, please call 318-329-2437 or 318-329-2475.
