News Photos Prevention Training Events FAQ

Our firefighters respond to over 4000 calls per year for emergency medical assistance. The vast majority of our response personnel have been trained and certified as emergency medical technicians with many having achieved certification as emergency medical technician paramedic. Our paramedics have also been trained to provide advanced cardiac life support in the event of a cardiac emergency. Our fire trucks are equipped with automatic external defibrillators to provide an electrical shock in the event of a sudden stoppage of the heart's natural electrical impulses. In most instances we can provide emergency medical assistance to anyone in need within five minutes of dialing 911. Our Director of Emergency Medical Services conducts frequent quality assurance reviews of actual emergency responses and provides continuing education to all our emergency medical technicians.
