The Suppression Division works twenty four hour shifts and responds to over 5200 calls for help each year. The Division is comprised of 3 duty shifts and each shift is supervised by a Deputy Fire Chief. Each shift is divided into 3 districts and each district is supervised by a District Fire Chief. There are 9 fire stations located strategically within the city limits of Monroe to provide the fastest response possible to calls to 911. The suppression division employs 186 firefighters manning 9 engine companies, 4 ladder companies, 1 rescue company, 2 airport rescue and firefighting companies and 1 special response emergency medical supervisors unit. Suppression division employees respond to a myriad of emergencies each year. Typical emergencies include house fires, auto fires, trash fires, grass fires, emergency medical calls, animal rescues, auto extrications, and hazardous materials responses.

The Deputy Chief of each shift has an office at Fire Station number 2 located at 1810 Martin Luther King Drive . The Deputy Chief may be reached during normal office hours at 329-2491.
