Mission Statement

Management Information System (MIS) is committed to serving the business operations of the city of Monroe by providing enterprise-wide integrated system solutions and high-quality end user service to ensure the efficient utilization of technology resources and investments.

Department Overview

Management Information System (MIS) is responsible for delivering quality services in the areas of systems support, hardware and software, help desk support, network operations, purchasing equipment, and business systems analysis. MIS provides customer service for all of the city's user departments. Currently, there are approximately 900 desktop computers and servers, and over 1,000 individual computer user accounts located at over 25 locations throughout the City. The MIS department is constantly upgrading computer software and hardware to keep up with the latest technology. The network is complicated and wide-spread, connecting over 35 different buildings across Monroe at speeds ranging from a minimum of a T1 to 30MB/s. The datacenter runs on the latest IBM servers, with the two most significant being an iSeries and a Bladecenter. The City's helpdesk is manned by a competent staff and is augmented by local college students working in our intern program. Current projects include creating a fast and secure network for the new airport and an interactive GIS mapping system of Monroe.
