Mayor Jamie Mayo, members of the Monroe City Council, and Fire Chief Terry Williams are pleased to announce the Monroe Fire Department has been awarded a $100,110 grant, from FEMA, for the training of ten (10) Paramedics and ten (10) Advanced EMTs. The Monroe Fire Department responded to nearly 4,000 medical related incidents in the City of Monroe during 2017. 

Mayor Jamie Mayo says, “We are thankful to receive these funds. They will help the men and women of our Class 1 Rated Fire Department enhance the level of service we are able to provide the great people of Monroe.” 

Fire Chief Terry Williams says, “These funds will be used to pay for tuition, books, and training for firefighters to receive Paramedic and Advanced EMT training from Delta Community College. This training will take approximately 1-year to complete. These additional paramedics will be strategically assigned to fire stations around the city, and will enable us to provide advanced life support during medical emergencies throughout the city.”
