            The following Ordinance was offered by Ms.  Woods                      who moved for its adoption and was seconded by Mr.   Echols                                    :

Amendment to Chapter 37, Zoning, of the Code of the City of Monroe, Article II, Definitions and Rules of Interpretation, Sec 37-21 Definitions to add the definition of “Storage, large,” and amend the definition of “Warehouse, wholesale and Storage” and Article III, Use Districts, Section 37-37 Commercial Use Districts, Table 3.3 Commercial Districts Permitted and Conditional Uses to add the use of “Storage, large,” and amend the use of “Warehouse, wholesale and storage.”

WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Monroe has this date held its Public Hearing with respect to the following proposed amendments to Chapter 37, Zoning, of the Code of the City of Monroe, Article II, Definitions and Rules of Interpretation, Sec 37-21 Definitions to add the definition of “Storage, large,” and amend the definition of “Warehouse, wholesale and Storage” and Article III, Use Districts, Section 37-37 Commercial Use Districts, Table 3.3 Commercial Districts Permitted and Conditional Uses to add the use of “Storage, large,” and amend the use of “Warehouse, wholesale and storage.”.

 WHEREAS, the use and definition of “Storage, large” and “Warehouse, wholesale and Storage” need to be regulated in order to protect the health, property, and public welfare of the City of Monroe;

WHEREAS, the applicant is requesting that the definition and use of “Storage, large” be added and the definition and use of “Warehouse, wholesale and storage” be amended as a conditional and permitted use in the B-3, General Business/Commercial and the B-4, Heavy Commercial District in order to clarify the definition and use of storage.

APPLICANT: City of Monroe (TAM 101-18)

            WHEREAS, the City Council has further considered the recommendation of the Monroe Planning Commission recommending approval, on a 0-0-1 vote, and that the above stated Sections of the Code of the City of Monroe should be amended.      

            NOW, THEREFORE;

BE IT ORDAINED, by the City Council of the City of Monroe, Louisiana, in legal session convened, that Chapter 37, Zoning, of the Zoning Ordinance of the City of Monroe, Louisiana be and it is amended as follows:

ADD:             

ARTICLE II. DEFINITIONS AND RULES OF INTERPRETATION
SECTION 37-21  DEFINITIONS

Storage, large - A space or place of over five thousand (5,000) square feet where goods, materials, or personal property is stored in a fixed location for a specific of unspecified period of time.

AMEND:

Warehouse, Wholesale or StorageA building or premises in which goods, merchandise or equipment are stored for eventual distribution.

            This ordinance was INTRODUCED on the 13th day of February, 2018.

NOTICE PUBLISHED on the  16th                          day of  February        , 2018

            This Ordinance having been submitted in writing, introduced and published was then submitted to a final vote as a whole, the vote thereon being as follows:

NAYS:            None.
ABSENT:       None.

            And the Ordinance was declared ADOPTED on the  27th    day of  February        , 2018.
