WHAT: Mayor Jamie Mayo and the Monroe City Council join City Engineer Kim Golden and staff, along with Michael Domingue, Louisiana Administrator for the Federal Highway Administration Recreational Trails Program to invite the media and public to the ribbon cutting ceremony for Monroe’s Riverside Hiking Trail.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: The 3,308-linear foot Riverside Hiking Trail is a quality of life project that promotes healthy lifestyles (#49 on Mayor Mayo’s 60 for 60 project list) and promotes the beautiful Ouachita River. This project consists of a paved pedestrian-bike trail in a loop on the riverside of the Forsythe levee and north of the boat ramp. The $287,434 project, designed by Denmon Engineering and constructed by Womack & Sons Construction group, had all necessary permits from the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers and Tensas Basin Levee District. The project is funded in part with an 80/20 Federal Highway Administration Recreational Trails Grant.
