City Employees to Donate 100+ Fans to Local Senior Citizen Organizations

Mayor Jamie Mayo and the Monroe City Council are pleased to announce the following:


WHERE: 11 am Thursday, July 28 - Ouachita Council on Aging, 2407 Ferrand Street Monroe


WHAT: Led by the City of Monroe Planning & Urban Development Department, as the month of June’s
City Employee Community Benevolent Project, our city employees have donated their own funds to purchase
more than 100 fans to help local senior citizens stay cool during these extremely hot Louisiana summer days.


RECIPIENTS: Senior citizens served by SCORE and the Ouachita Council on Aging.


NOTE: City Employee Community Benevolent Acts is #12 on Mayor Jamie Mayo’s 60 for 60 Project List. So
far, our employees have done the following 2018 projects, led by the listed departments.


January – Comfort Kids for the Homeless (Public Works)
February – Senior Sweetheart Valentine’s Day Project (Legal)
March – Mentoring Moments Promoting Literacy (Engineering)
April – Entergy-City of Monroe Community Service Scholarship (Community Affairs)
May – NELA Sickle Cell Anemia Foundation Walk (Community Affairs)
June – Fan Drive for Seniors (Planning & Urban Development Department)
